The weekly Flog!

Arrangements and installations are my favorite thing to design. They are dramatic and elegant all at the same time, quietly sitting there in a room in all their beauty for people to admire without having to say one word. I believe the beauty lies within the flowers and that it is my job to arrange them in a design that will show them off for at their very best for everyone to admire and gain memories and gratification from.

Some arrangements are very special and are requested for a celebration for someone that the buyer loves so the questions that are asked ahead of the design and the story that is told all goes into the final design.

We recently had a request for a significant Birthday celebration. I was informed the lady loved Hydrangeas, especially Blue's as her Father would grow them in their garden every year and when they went to Cornwall they would fill the borders of the house they had their when she was young. On delivery of the design her Mother who is 101 years old was the first one to see them and she started to cry with joy. Her beautiful blue eyes lit up with tears and she said to her daughter; look at these, aren't they stunning. I hoped and imagined this had brought back memories of her late Husband looking after their Hydrangeas in the garden and their holidays to Cornwall that their daughter also had memories of and a love for.

The story behind the design is so important as that always come from a place of love that I can use in my design and that you will then see reflected in the creation. I take that love on bard and put it into the arrangements that are created and I think that's why I love to do them so much.

One of my favorite pieces of feedback from a customer was 'I can actually see your heart in this design'. I will never forget that comment as it came at a time that I was near to giving up. I dont like to admit defeat EVER but I had just done a pop up stall that wasnt financially successful, the bills were outweighing the income of the business and I wondered if it was all worth the time and energy that goes into it all and this one comment came that same day as I was sat with my head in my hands, tearful and ready to make some significant decisions it turned it around for me and I made a decision to keep going and believing it will come good. These moments have happened throughout the two years of trading and creating and there has always been a sign sent to me to keep going when I have lost faith in myself and what success looks like. I know I am at my work happiest creating floral designs and it makes me even happier when It has an impact on people and their happiness.

In conclusion to this FLOG, I love flowers, you love flowers and flowers love to be quietly and beautifully amazing whilst we all get overly emotional about them.

Also, 100% the 101 year old lady will be receiving an arrangement of blue Hydrangeas when she turns 102 this year!
