....................Welcome to 'THE WEEKLY FLOG!
Who are we?
Hi, I am Hannah Taylor-Slaymaker. I am a local florist based in Daventry, Northamptonshire. Iberis is the name of my family run business. Why you ask? Because Iberis is 1) A combination of my children's names and 2) A beautiful plant also known as Candytuft. When i set up Iberis i wanted the whole family to be involved and we have achieved this. My wife makes candles and wax melts, my children do deliveries and condition flowers with me and are learning the trade at an early age, my Mum makes tiny Bees and my Dad lets me use his van and fixes things that we break. It is the best feeling to have the people you love by your side working with you.
Why Floristry?
In 2020 I left the world of Social Work behind to begin a journey that started with garden design, This moved into sensory garden design and eventually led to my decision that my main passion was creating beautiful arrangements, growing and sourcing flowers which is why I am now a florist with a twist.
I could never fully leave wellbeing or social rights behind so I have incorporated products into my business that lend themselves to enhance wellbeing for therapists, schools and social care providers to use such as our mobile sensory path that is used by professionals and wedding parties where they want to entertain children / and adults in a calming sensory way. Our last wedding hire was for a wedding where the brides child has autism and everyone had a go and were enjoying the sensory experience and grounding he needed on his Mum's big day! Our last professionals hire was for Willen Hospice where a therapist used the path with children and young people who had experienced loss.
Another passion and something that has cost us more money and time than i would like to admit BUT I will not budge on is our sustainable mission and values. We do everything we can to ensure we are the most ethical and eco friendly florist that we can be and we are proud of how we use different techniques to achieve beautiful arrangements and structures without using plastics or foams. The Beewaggle seed bomb sacks and DIY kits that we have created are also to support biodiversity and give something back. We give away Beewaggles to local schools with every on-line bouquet order and are creating a 'Bee kind to yourself' Bee prouduct for 2024.
Looking back on this year's achievements;
We have stocked flowers and products at a local farm shop (Treacle's Farm to Fork) which has boosted sales and confidence in our product. Our brand is now getting out there for more of you to see and use.
We are running a new and successful Friday flower round 'Like the milk round but for flowers' that brings flowers to doorsteps at an affordable price every week where people can subscribe to the frequency and size they desire. We have had some great feedback about the round and most importantly it is brightening people's day every week when we deliver. One customer said how much she looks forward to getting a surprise bunch every week. People are investing in themselves and buying from local business instead of flowers from the supermarket and are seeing the difference in quality and lifespan of the blooms they are getting. We couldn't be prouder! One of my favourite things to do is go out on the early round with my son who shines the torch on the house numbers and we bob along in the van all wrapped up on our first delivery run before school. It is the simple things in life that seem to keep us at our happiest.

So that's us in a nutshell! In summary, we love what we do and want to make wellbeing, biodiversity and sustainability a priority for us and for you using flowers and natural materials.
Please leave a comment and take a look around to find out more about our products and services. We hope you enjoy our weekly flog my beautiful flower people! X
